Performance on Saturday, August 27th to be ASL-interpreted.

Agatha Christie. A dead physicist, an atom bomb, and Hercule Poirot. Who could ask for anything more? Gaslight Theater's production of this lesser-known but "explosive" Agatha Christie tale (featuring Hercule Poirot) opens Friday, August 19th, at Hallowell City Hall.

About the Play

Sir Claud Amory’s revolutionary new formula for a powerful explosive is stolen. Locking his house-guests in the library, Sir Claud switches off the lights to allow the thief to replace the formula, no questions asked.

When the lights come on, he is dead, and Hercule Poirot and Captain Hastings have to unravel a tangle of family feuds, old flames and suspicious foreigners to find the killer and prevent a global catastrophe.

The cast includes:

  • Henrik Strandskov as Hercule Poirot
  • Frank Omar as Captain Hastings
  • George Dunn as Sir Claud Amory
  • Jonathan Marcoullier as Richard Amory, Sir Claud's son
  • Maggie Wachtl as Lucia Amory, Richard's wife
  • Nancy Kenneally as Miss Caroline Amory, Sir Claud's maiden sister
  • Grace Kenneally as Barbara Amory, Sir Claud's niece
  • Henry Quintal as Edward Raynor, Sir Claud's secretary
  • Matthew Perry as Treadwell, the butler
  • Nathan Brown as Dr. Carelli, mysterious visitor
  • Gregor Smith as Dr. Graham, Sir Claud's doctor
  • Ray Fletcher as Inspector Japp
  • Jonathan Williams as Constable Johnson

Black Coffee is directed by Bob Gilbert, with Linda Duarte as Assistant Director, and produced by Carol Homer. Samantha Boucher is Stage Manager, and Lighting Designer and Technician is Andrew Vick.
