A Cast to Die for in Murder on the Nile

murder on the nile

Director Deborah Howard has announced the cast for Gaslight Theater's production of Agatha Christie's Murder on the Nile. This classic thriller opens in Hallowell on November 9.

Simon Mostyn (Jonathan Williams) has just married the richest girl in England, Kay Ridgeway (Alicia Belmore). They are enjoying their honeymoon aboard the Lotus, a paddle steamer on the Nile.

Unfortunately, Simon jilted Jacqueline de Severac (Elizabeth Chasse), Kay's best friend, in order to marry Kay, and Jacqueline has followed them all along their honeymoon. Also tagging along is Kay's guardian, Canon Pennefather (Bill Haley).

When the inevitable murder occurs, there are a boatload of suspects: Dr. Bessner (Bob Collins) holds an old grudge against Kay's father. Louise, Kay's maid (Jen Cart) is perhaps not above suspicion. Who is William Smith (Henry Quintal) a oddly direct young man? Then there is the unpleasant Miss ffoliot-ffoulkes (Dorothy Schull), a wealthy snob, and her young niece Christina Grant (Gwenyth Fraser). What might their motives be?

And can we rule out the Steward, Captain McNaught, or a persistent native beadseller (Chris Cart and Meg Matheson)?

Canon Pennefather is determined to learn the truth before the boat docks, and he follows clues laid out in classic Agatha Christie style. The cast of Gaslight veterans and talented newcomers ensures that Murder on the Nile will be an unforgettable voyage.
