Auditions Galore! One Act Plays and The 39 Steps

Actors looking for performance opportunities have two different options coming up.

Gaslight Theater will holding auditions for An Evening of One Act Plays and The 39 Steps in early March.

An Evening of One Acts:

Auditions will be held Sunday, March 4, 6:00 pm, Hallowell City Hall

One acts are a great perfomance choice for actors who are just starting out or getting back into perofrmance, or who don't have enough time to devote to a full-length production. This year's offerings include:

  • The Class by Marie Coyle: 3 female college students
  • The Perils of Long Term Care by Michael Kimball: 1 older female
    • Both directed by Lee Kerr
  • Dinner for One by Lauri Wylie: 1 male and 1 female
    • Directed by Mike Clements
  • Things and Other Things by Sybil Baker: 1 older and 1 young woman
    • Directed by Dale Smith
  • The Right to Remain by Melanie Marmich: Middle-aged couple and teenage male
    • Directed by Ben Keene.

The auditions will involve cold readings. All the shows will be cast from this audition; all directors will be present.

Performance dates for An Evening of One Act Plays are Friday and Satruday, April 13th and 14th.

The 39 Steps

  • adapted by Patrick Barlow, from the movie by Alfred Hitchcock and the novel by John Buchan
  • directed by Lynette Miller

Auditions for 39 Steps Wednesday the 7th at 6:30 pm, Sunday the 11th at 2:00 pm

The 39 Steps has parts for 3 men and 1 woman. One man plays one role, the woman plays three roles, and the other two men play all the other characters, both male and female.

Auditions will consist of cold readings with possibly some improvisation and movement.

Perfomance dates for The 39 Steps are May 18th through 20th and 24th through 26th.
