Gaslight Theater to Produce Born Yesterday

born yesterday poster

Gaslight Theater's production of Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin, directed by Mike Clements and Alicia Ouellette, will open Friday, September 3rd, at Hallowell City Hall. Reservations are now being accepted at 626-3698.

This classic 1930's comedy was the basis for two film versions (most famously starring William Holden and Judy Holiday). Corrupt tycoon Harry Brock hires reporter Paul Verrall to give Brock's girlfriend, showgirl Bille Dawn, lessons in the ways of Washington DC.

Billie learns those lessons (and more) better than anyone bargained for. Born Yesterday is the perfect break from political news at the height of the campaign season.

The cast of Born Yesterday features actors both well known and new to Gaslight audiences.

  • Harry Brock: Bill McLean
  • Paul Verrell: James Paine
  • Ed Devery: Frank Omar
  • Senator Norval Hedges: Mel Morrison
  • Mrs. Hedges: Margaret Harvey

  • Eddie Brock: Kurt Leonard
  • Assistant Manager: Walter Guild
  • Manicurist: Lynne Currie
