Bells are Ringing Onstage Now at Gaslight Theater

Only four performances remain for this classic Broadway musical, with book by Betty Comden and Adolph Green and music and lyrics by Jule Styne, Betty Comden and Adolph Green. Ella, the most valuable employee of Susanswerphone, lives vicariously through the lives of her answering service's clients — until she falls in love with playwright Jeff Moss, who believes that only Ella's anonymous voice can break through his writer's block. Toss in an illegal bookmaking operation, the police, and some major misunderstandings, and you've got a recipe for perfect summer entertainment.

Karen LaPlante is Ella Peterson, whoworks in the "Susanswerphone" basement office of her boss, Sue, played by Dorothy Schull.  Others in the cast includes clients Jeff Moss, played by Frank Omar, Blake Barton, an out-of-work Method actor (Matt Buganza) and Dr. Kitchell , a dentist with musical yearnings but lacking talent (Bill Haley).  Sue's boyfriend Sandor is played by Chris Cart.  Supporting cast  Christopher Allen, Jen Cart, Bob Collins, Rebecca Cothen, Desiree Genthner, Whitney Lind, Henrik Strandskov and Erik Tainter round out this musical favorite.

Deborah Howard directs, with musical direction by Brad Howard and choreography by Jen Cart.  Stage Manager is Linda Duarte and Ellen Clair Lamb produces.

Bells are Ringing opened in November of 1956 and ran for 924 performances.  The original cast included Judy Holliday, Jean Stapleton, and Eddie Lawrence.  The score features such favorites as "Just in Time" and "The Party's Over."
