Call for Artists

The Kennebec Valley Art Association invites your artistic response to complement Gaslight Theater's August Production of "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress"

Exhibition Dates: Art Exhibition August 14, 15, 16 at Hallowell City Hall

Gaslight Theater and the Kennebec Valley Art Association, two long-time fixtures of Hallowell's art scene, are teaming up in August! Area artists are invited to submit work to a juried art exhibition. The exhibition will take place at Hallowell City Hall on August 14, 15 & 16, 2009 during Gaslight Theater's production of "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress". 

Submissions should be inspired by, or a response to, the play "Five Women Wearing the Same Dress" by Alan Ball.  Art in any media is welcome. There is no cost to members of the KVAA or members of Gaslight Theater, and a $10 entry fee for artists who are not members of either organization.

You may also borrow a script from the Harlow Gallery at 160 Water Street in Hallowell. Call 622-3813 to make sure it is available first, or email Submit your work (up to 2 pieces per artist) to the Harlow Gallery on:

  • Saturday August 8th from noon to 6 pm OR
  • Sunday, August 9th from noon to 4pm

Commission taken on artwork sold is 30% for members of the KVAA, 40% for non-members, and will benefit both Gaslight Theater and the Harlow Gallery!

The Harlow Gallery is owned and operated by the Kennebec Valley Art Association, a membership based 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting the arts in Central Maine for half a century.  Gaslight Theater has been around a long time too!
